Implementing a VPN service with policy rules1.PDF

چکیده
Today’s telecommunication service providers aim at reducing drastically the time for implementing a service in order to reduce the cost. Simultaneously, they want to provide a better quality of service. In this context, an identified solution at the Telecommunication Management Forum (TMF) was to propose a completely automated top-down management of the network using the definition of customer needs as input. In this paper, such a management is illustrated in the particular case of the implementation of a provider provisioned VPN service: starting from the expression of the customer needs and ending at the network configuration. More precisely, this implementation is defined in several steps, which are: § the formalization of the customer needs within one or several service level specification(s) (SLS), § the translation of these formal needs using specific policy information models and § the implementation of these models in order to address the network layer.

Policy-based hybrid management architecture for IP-based VPN
Using IP-based Virtual Private Network (IP-VPN) technology, a company can establish its virtual private network over public networks. Recently, IP-VPN emerges as one of main technologies for increasing business competitiveness with reasonable costs. The standards for IP-VPN are currently being developed by Internet Engineering Task Forces (IETF) and others. In this paper, we identify the limita...
متن کاملImplementation of Traffic Engineering and Addressing QoS in MPLS VPN Based IP Backbone
With increasing popularity and ever emerging business needs there was an immense focus to improve the Internet world and to provide guarantee for service delivery. Simplest example for this case is VoIP where two subscribers make a voice call through MPLS based backbone. The end subscribers should have similar quality as that of POTS. Subscribers will expect a real time conversation with limite...
متن کاملQoS Routing for IP-based Virtual Private Network Services
IP-based VPN technology is considered an attractive cost-effective private network service for both customers and service providers. We focus our research on the design of a minimal cost routing policy to be used by network-based IP VPN. The interest in such solutions is generated by both customers seeking to reduce support costs and by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) seeking new revenue sour...
متن کاملOn Reducing Response Time for VPN Traffic
A successful migration from traditional private networks (PNs) to virtual private networks (VPNs) depends on the ability of VPNs to offer similar quality of service (QoS) guarantees. To approach this goal, we propose to use priority scheduling based on flow size differentiation at the edge devices of the VPN. We evaluate the shortest elapsed time (SET) scheduling policy and compare it to differ...
متن کاملOn Layered VPN Architecture for Enabling User-Based Multiply Associated VPNs
In our previous work, we have proposed a new VPN architecture for enabling user-based multiply associated VPNs [1]. Almost all existing VPN technologies assume that users never simultaneously access more than a single VPN. Thus, for realizing a new VPN service allowing users to simultaneously join multiple VPNs, several fundamental mechanisms, such as dynamically changing user’s VPN association...
